A complete 5.56mm tactical kit ready for deployment to the streets!
According to one source, there are some 18,769 law enforcement agencies in the United States. Of those agencies, 90 percent serve populations under 25,000. That means there are lots of small town and rural LEOs out there. In many cases, small population and small size add up to minimal salaries and all too often officers have to pay for things like firearms, leather and related equipment out-of-pocket. Given my small-town LE roots, I’m always on the lookout for a good deal. Recently, I found just such a deal, and it comes from one of the emerging leaders in AR platforms, Daniel Defense.

Time of day doesn’t matter with the new 24/7 SOG Blade Lights!
No one can deny that the economy has been taking a beating in 2012, and many companies have trimmed their product lines and hunkered down with hopes of riding through to better times. However, others have taken a different approach and added new products in an effort to think outside the conventional box. SOG Specialty Knives & Tools is in the latter group and have been introducing new designs since the start of the year. The Blade Lights are an outstanding example of this.

Infantryman turned surgeon, Dr. Miguel D. Montagnese MD custom grinds blades to be the ultimate CQB fighter!
Fighting effectively with a knife requires knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Granted, anyone with a sharp blade and enough aggression can certainly cause tremendous injury, but blindly cutting and thrusting isn’t the most effective way to get the job done. In the 15 years that I’ve been publicly teaching my approach to knife tactics, I’ve had many medical professionals as students and even taught my system at the International School of Tactical Medicine. In the process, I’ve validated the core concepts of my approach and learned a lot about the finer points of knife fighting anatomy. I was therefore extremely intrigued when reviewing a combat knife that had been designed and made by a former General Surgeon and Wound Care Specialist.

DALLAS – “I carried and used it for many years in Indian Wars and Buffalo killing. And it never failed me.” – Buffalo Bill
So wrote “Buffalo” Bill Cody – America’s most famous Wild West figure and showman – of his beloved and trusted Remington .44 revolver, coming to auction on June 10 as part of Heritage Auction’s Legends of the Wild West Signature® Auction. It is expected to bring more than $200,000.
“This is the most important Will F. ‘Buffalo Bill’ Cody gun in existence,” said Tom Slater, Director of Americana Auctions at Heritage. “To say that it ‘never failed’ him is the most eloquent tribute a craftsman can pay to his favorite tool, and few craftsmen ever depended a tool the way Buffalo Bill depending on this gun.”

Homeland Security buying millions of rounds of high-powered ammo

The Department of Homeland Security is rushing to finish the acquisition of 750 million rounds of high-power ammunition that has already raised many eyebrows. In one week, the DHS should start expecting an arsenal that will make some armies jealous.

The DHS has updated a solicitation originally posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website earlier this year, now answering questions from prospective contractors about an inquiry the agency published back in April. All responses to the DHS’ request for hundreds of millions of rounds of high-power ammunition must still be sent in by August 20, but now the federal agency designated to thwart terrorism on the home front has answered some questions about what exactly they are looking for in terms of being able to blow stuff up.
